This installation was a study of nature’s influence on impermanence. Constructed from telephone book pages, the work references a temporary system of recordkeeping — a once-essential means of locating others and navigating unfamiliar areas. The exposed “pages” acted as both surface and subject: thin, degradable carriers of human activity, subject to decay.

As the seasons shifted, the environment’s impact was evident. Sunlight burnished outlines into the vinyl backdrop. Wind frayed the cheap, newsprint paper edges. Rain unraveled the burlap.

When visitors moved through the installation, the stiff strips of vinyl and fabric, slapped against each other. Over time, the sculptural book transformed, mirroring natural processes of erosion and disappearance.
